Apart from one General Hospital in Karaikal, one Maternity Hospital, one Community Health Centre, 11 Primary Health Centre, 17 Sub-Centres in Rural Areas and one ESI Dispensary are functioning in Karaikal region.

Departments for Neurology, Micoro-surgery, Nephrology, Urology, Anesthesia, Sports Medicien and a full-fledged burns ward are also provided. Thirunallar, whereas a Deputy Director (Immunization & Public Heath) is overall in-charge of peripheral health institutions. NON-GOVERNMENT HEALTH INSTITUTIONS are also functioning.
