HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

        This department was started during the year 1989, Dr. R.M. Augustine Paul was the Chief during the year and he was succeeded by Dr. Y. Vasundharadevi, after which Dr. Andre Karunakaran was the chief followed again by Dr. Y. Vasubdharadevi.

FUNCTIONS / OBJECTIVES

• Deputy Director(Immunization)Karaikal is overall in-charge of 11 peripheral health  institutions except CHC Thirunallar and G.H. Karaikal.
   

• Nodal Officer for all National Programmes, Malaria Eradication, Leprosy Control, Blindness Control, T.B. Control and Reproductive and Child Health Programmes.
   

• Dy. Director(Immunization) is responsible for control, detection, treatment, of the diseases like malaria, filaria, T.B. and leprosy.
