Karaikal: Monday the 3^rd July 2006, has been declared as holiday for all Educational  Institutions, Govt. and private schools in Karaikal District, Pondicherry, Mahe and Yanam regions to facilitate the counting process for Civic Elections 2006 -  the order issued by the Directorate of School Education, Pondicherry announced.

 Meanwhile, the training for counting officials in Karaikal District is to be held on 29-06-2006 and 01-07-2006 respectively. Already, a batch of approximately 250 officials has been drafted for counting duty and will be given training at Municipality Kalayanamandapam, Karaikal in 2 phases – Smt. Shantha Williams, Officer In-charge of Training, District Election Office, Karaikal intimated.

The counting for Civic Election in Karaikal District will be held in 5 centres.

1.       PAJANCOA&RI new building (for Nedungadu and Thriunallar Commune Panchayats),

2.       Govt. Higher Secondary School, T.R.Pattinam (for T.R.Pattinam Commune),

3.       Municipal Conference Hall at Karaikal Municipality Office (for Neravy Commune),

4.       Arignar Anna Govt. Arts College ( for Karaikal Municipality)

5.       Govt. Polytechnic, Varichikudy (for Kottucherry Commune)
